Issues: Education

All Mississippian -- all Americans -- should have the opportunity to reach their God given full potential. We should ensure our children and young people get the best education in the world.

Jeramey will work in Congress to ensure our local schools get the resources they need to hire and keep great teachers, to invest in technology to keep students learning at the cutting edge, and to reduce class sizes. While in the Mississippi Legislature Jeramey has stood strong on protecting public education.

Teachers should be honored, given the support and tools they need to do their best work, and paid better.

In the Mississippi Legislature, Jeramey authored House Bill 1729, an act that would establish the Mississippi Critical Needs School District Tax Credit Act of 2017. The bill would've established the Mississippi critical needs school district tax credit program to attract first-year teachers to geographical areas of the state where there exists a critical need in primary and secondary education instruction, and to retain those first-year teachers and veteran teachers who serve as licensed teachers in critical needs school districts by making tax incentives available to them.

He believes that the biggest investment you can ever make is the ones you make in yourself. Jeramey will work to reduce the burden of student debt on young Americans. Jeramey will work to make college more affordable. Student debt shouldn't prevent young Americans from saving, investing in their careers, and reaching their potential.

Jeramey will promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education for Mississippi's students and professional education to qualify young Mississippians for the workforce after high school.
